The Good Fight Conference 2018

You look around and you see injustice: in your community, in your country, and in the world. And it hurts. But you don't know what to do.

Maybe you attend a few rallies - you get fired up for a few days or weeks, but it doesn't feel like you are accomplishing anything. Maybe you've been an activist for years, but it feels like you are spinning your wheels. Or maybe you are just ready to move beyond sharing articles on Facebook and start really make a difference.

Whatever the case, the last thing you want is to pay good money to attend an event that just tells you "there's a problem" without also telling you "here's a solution".

That is why we are organizing this training conference. This isn't just about talking at you about solutions; this is about experts training you to be the solution. We will provide the space and the experts - you just need to make room in your schedule to be here. Even if you are coming in feeling nothing but helplessness and impotent rage, if you commit to the full weekend, on Septemeber 16th (unless you completely ignore us and spend the whole time playing Candy Crush on your phone), you will walk out with a concrete, actionable, personalized plan to create more justice in the world.

But first, you need to show up.

This is the Good Fight, after all. We need each other. We need your unique contribution.

The Good Fight is about coming together to share solutions to the problems of injustice, racism and fascism. The conference will be held at the University of Alberta campus.

Here is what the conference will look like:

Friday, September 14, 7pm - 9pm, telus international center, u of a, 11104 87 Ave Edmonton

A panel of experts with give you perspective - and more importantly, direction - about how to deal with the current political climate we are living in. Three speakers - experts interviewed by us and selected for not only their unique understanding of the situation, but their active contributions to the cause of justice - will help you understand the problem and start to see solutions.

A Q&A will follow, giving you a chance to submit questions to the speakers to enhance your learning. And don't worry - we are taking pains to make sure that the questions are actually questions! This is a learning environment, and we are doing everything we can to make sure everyone gets the most out of this experience, not just those first to the microphone.

Saturday, September 15 9am-5pm and Sunday, September 16 10am-noon, education south building, u of a, 11210 - 87 Ave

The sessions will be focused around how to create actionable plans, both short term and long term action, for the necessary work of countering fascism and racism. Our goal is to provide an understanding of the problem on a local, national and international level, and then mobilize participants with the skills to counteract fascism and racism in their communities, their counties, and around the world.

Your first stop at the conference will be a short prep course, teaching participants how to apply the information in the individual training sessions in actionable way. Once you have that basic container within which to create a plan, you will be able to attend the rest of the training sessions with a clear focus. You chose which sessions you attend (up to 3), so no two plans will look alike unless you decide to collaborate.  At the end of this 2-day training, your individual plan will be your own, specific to your interests and your skill sets. But we will give you the framework within which you can get the most out of these opportunities.

This isn't about passive participation in a classroom. This is about giving you the tools and helping you to act in your own revolutionary way.

You'll also be able to enjoy a continental breakfast and a delicious meal with vegetarian & vegan options at the training, all for the low-low suggested (it is pay-what-you-can, so that is just suggested) price of $150 for the entire 3-day conference.
